Michelin Star

« Back to Glossary Index

A Michelin star is a prestigious culinary award, given by the MICHELIN Guide, to restaurants that demonstrate outstanding cooking, with ratings ranging from one to three stars, indicating the quality of the cuisine.
Here’s a breakdown of what a Michelin star represents:

What it means:

  • One Star: “High-quality cooking, worth a stop”.
  • Two Stars: “Excellent cooking, worth a detour”.
  • Three Stars: “Exceptional cuisine, worth a special journey”.
  • Michelin Guide Criteria: The Michelin Guide considers five universal criteria when awarding stars: the quality of the ingredients, the harmony of flavors, the mastery of techniques, the personality of the chef as expressed through their cuisine, and consistency both across the entire menu and over time.
  • Michelin Green Star: The Michelin Guide also recognizes restaurants that are at the forefront of the industry when it comes to their sustainable practices.
